Saw this daring kid in chandni chowk, Delhi returning home on his rikshaw. The rikshaw was powered by a human cyclist and was packed with other kids, school bags and tiffen boxes.
A walk through Chandni Chowk – Kulfi!
The Kulfi is somewhat an Indian variant of Ice Cream. It is believed to have originated during the Mughal period about 400 years ago with ice from the Himalayas!
Imagine carrying ice hundreds of kilometers from the cold Himalayas to the sweltering Indian capital of Delhi to please the appetite of what was the most powerful court in the world at that time in history.

I recently walked through Chandni Chowk, the iconic street market of Delhi. I’m going to put up a series of pics on the various people and places that make this mayhem of a market what it is.
There are small shops the width of just one man that serve water in the summer to weary shoppers and labourers. No bottled mineral water here for people in a hurry.
A Candle Light Vigil for the Rape Victim
The pic shows just one of the many Candle light Vigils for the terrible tragedy that has unfolded over the last few days in India.
The brutal gang rape of a young girl in Delhi has resulted in shock, despair and shame on what it means to be Indian in a country that can’t treat its daughters right. Countless reports of rape have been pouring in from other parts of India validating the view that this country just doesn’t keep its promise when it comes to women’s safety and their freedom.
The patronizing reaction of the Central Government and the Home Minister have only contributed to revulsion and disbelief on how the Rulers of this country view themselves as Royalty. Peaceful protesters have been assaulted with water canons and lathi wielding policemen.
The death of the rape victim has set in a solemn and hopefully introspective mood throughout India as we enter 2013.
