The Oriental Garden Lizard, Eastern Garden Lizard or Changeable Lizard (Calotes versicolor) is an agamid lizard found widely distributed in Asia. It has also been introduced in many other parts of the world. It is an insectivore and the male gets a bright red throat in the breeding season leading to a common incorrect name of “Bloodsucker”. Charminar was built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591. It is believed that Charminar was built to honor a promise Quli Qutb Shah made to Allah. It was in fact, built to mark the end of the plague in the city. Built with granite and lime mortar, Charminar is a fine example of the Cazia style of architecture.
Little ringed plovers are found on water edges in Europe and in Asia. These birds forage for food on muddy areas, usually by sight. They eat insects and worms.
Lesser Flamingo is a sub species of the flamingo family found in sub saharan Africa and India. It is the smallest species of flamingo though it is tall and large bird by most standards.
Bar headed Goose
The Bar-headed Goose is one of the world’s highest-flying birds. The species has been reported as migrating south from Tibet, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia before crossing the Himalaya.
The Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. It is found in parts of Africa, southern Asia (coastal regions of Pakistan and India), and southern Europe (including Spain, Albania, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Italy and the Camargue region of France).
Lesser flamingoes are the smallest species of flamingo family, these are tall and largish birds by most standards.These flamingoes were spotted at a lake in the outskirts of Hyderabad . Though I have been birding from last few years I had never gotten an opportunity to photograph these beautiful birds .
This picture was shot early morning when we were setting up our camera equipment , I was lucky to have held my camera when a flock of flamingoes flew right in front of the rising sun giving a silhouette effect .
