A walk through Kitsch Mandi

Flea markets these days are becoming the treasure trove of all things quirky and kitschy. I like how these flea markets introduce us artists who are designing incredibly creative stuff.
Last Sunday I went to one such flea market –Kitsch Mandi in Bangalore. Eclectic mix of products drenched in loud colors and patterns just attract you towards them. It was fascinating to see how there  was a kitsch twist to the simplest of garments, accessories and home decorating items.

Discover Anjuna beach’s flea market – a Photo Essay

The Anjuna beach flea market should be on every to-do list made for Goa. You can see hippies selling incense sticks, backpackers haggling over Bollywood themed shirts and tourists trying to get a good deal.

The range of shops is impressive. Shops sell birthstones to solve your problems, Swedish music cds, Kashmir shawls, Nataraja statues, jewelery, musical instruments, chess sets and much more.

As the Lord of Dance, Nataraja, Shiva performs the tandava, the dance in which the universe is created, maintained, and dissolved. Shiva’s long, matted tresses, usually piled up in a knot, loosen during the dance and crash into the heavenly bodies, knocking them off course or destroying them utterly. source: Wikipedia
