Common kingfisher also known as river kingfisher is found in Eurasia and North Africa. It is a sparrow sized bird that has the typical short-tail, blue upperparts, orange underparts and a long bill. It feeds mainly on fish, caught by diving, and has special visual adaptions to enable it to see prey under water.
Little ringed plovers are found on water edges in Europe and in Asia. These birds forage for food on muddy areas, usually by sight. They eat insects and worms.
The Darters or the Snakebirds are water birds , they feed mainly on mid-sized fishes and other aquatic vertebrates and invertebrates.These birds typically inhabit fresh water lakes, rivers , swamps etc.
Common Stonechat (Saxicola) is a species of ‘Old World Flycatcher’ found mainly in wetlands. The males have a black head, a white half-collar, a black back, a white rump, and a black tail Females have brown on the head.
White cheeked barbet or small green barbet is found in southern India. White cheeked is very similar to brown headed barbet. These birds are mostly frugivorous but also feed on small insects. The breeding season of white cheeked barbets starts in summer.
Lesser Flamingo is a sub species of the flamingo family found in sub saharan Africa and India. It is the smallest species of flamingo though it is tall and large bird by most standards.
Bar headed Goose
The Bar-headed Goose is one of the world’s highest-flying birds. The species has been reported as migrating south from Tibet, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia before crossing the Himalaya.

This place is notorious for land-slides, you can notice the vehicles on narrow roads. Driving to malshej ghat during late evening or early morning could be very challenging due to low road visibility and narrow roads.
Purple-rumped Sunbird is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. Like other sunbirds. They can hover for short duration but usually perch to feed. They build a hanging pouch nest made up of cobwebs. Male Sunbirds are brightly coloured.
