No such thing as too much beads…

We just can’t enough of beads at our photoblog. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s another picture by Nandini.

Sugar and Rum

Sugar and Rum are derived from the humble Sugarcane. Below is a part of the poem โ€“ โ€˜Pity for Poor Africansโ€™. They really loved their Sugar and Rum in those days!

I OWN I am shock’d at the purchase of slaves,
And fear those who buy them and sell them are knaves;
What I hear of their hardships, their tortures, and groans,
Is almost enough to draw pity from stones.
I pity them greatly, but I must be mum,
For how could we do without sugar and rum?

Sunset at Shanti Stupa, Leh

sunset at Shanti Stupa, Leh

My first sunset at Leh. I reached Leh absolutely battered both by exhaustion and the altitude. But what truly knocked the wind out of me was this spectacular view. The Shanti Stupa was built with Japanese collaboration and is obviously intended to propagate world peace.
Nevertheless, the reverberance of peace was slightly dampened with the looming threat from our not so friendly neighbors . However, standing in the dwindling light of the day, I truly wished for lasting peace for this beautiful land.
