Jantar Mantar (Jaipur) – UNESCO World Heritage Centre

The highlight of  my recent trip to Jaipur was my visit to Jantar Mantar.  Jantar means “Instrument” & Mantar means “Formula”.The Jantar Mantar is a collection of architectural astronomical instruments, built by King Jai Singh II between 1727 and 1734. This place is so fascinating unlike anything I have ever seen before.
There are huge sun-dials to track the time to an accuracy of 2 seconds.  One particularly interesting  instrument was a pair of huge segmented portions of the sky in concave form into the ground. The sun passes from one part to the other each hour , tracking which constellation the sun is in.
Though I am not really an expert at it and  will not be able to explain all pictures in detail, however this is an attempt to show Jantar Mantar from how I saw it. For more details on Jantar Mantar Click Here
