Golden Temple is a prominent Sikh gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. The gurdwara is surrounded by a large lake or temple tank, known as the Sarovar, which consists of Amrit (“holy water” or “immortal nectar”). The upper floors of the gurdwara are covered with gold, hence the name “Golden Temple”
